CFW 2009 – Shakad ‘ Vibrant, Fresh & Exotic’

Shanika Burnett, the designer of  Shakad showcased a youthful, fresh menswear and womenswear collection, filled with vibrant exotic colours.  There was a strong African and Caribbean influence in the textures, colours and embellishments on the pieces, and accessories she chose to use.

Shakad wowed us with distinctive form fitting dresses for the ladies, while the menswear pieces were a perfect illustration of simplicity and comfort… We all know it is not easy to strike a balance between ancient techniques and a fresh, youthful feel, BUT this designer definitely does… Amazing creations!

My must have from this collection was the sleeveless long silk gown, in variations of turquoise. Absolutely gorgeous!
