How to Find the Best Deals!

Author : teriann

Do you love to get bargains? I certainly love saving money!

There is a slight problem I have though when I try to get a deal. Often I have to go to several places before I find the price I am willing to pay.

As a busy mom, I have no time to be driving all over town searching for the lowest price of any item.  In fact I often end up paying more simply because I am at a particular spot and on a tight schedule.

So what are the alternatives?

One thing that has helped me to find discounts, are the advertised deals in the Gleaner on a weekly basis. I cut these coupons out and save them as they are usually on popular household items and food products.

However this is not the only way to find deals. A savvy shopper will always use all the tools available to get the best deals and that includes the consumer affairs commission website.

Recently I went on the website and found a section that helps consumers to choose the best price of selected stores. If consumers want to know which outlet has the lowest price they simply use the Consumer Price Enquiry Tool.

Arranged by parish, the stores and selected items are highlighted and can be placed side by side for an instant comparison.

For example according to the website, a package of chicken mixed parts 1 kg costs $390 at Shopper’s Fair in Portmore but costs $5 more at MegaMart also in Portmore.

Of course the prices on the website might need some updating as the website states that they were last updated in March 2014.

Consumers can also benefit from listening to advertisements as there are various events that have free admission and flexible prices.

For example, consumers have been encouraged to support the Farmers’ Market which is held every fourth Friday in the parking lot at Michi’s Super Centre on Washington Boulevard in Kingston.

Michi’s Super Centre also offers a wide range of items on sale on their website, which includes daily deals such as Lasco Mackerel hot and spicy 120g for $89.35+ g.c.t.

So how do you find deals? Let me hear from you!
