I love to travel. It does not take much invitation for me to pack my bags and me at the airport ready to fly the ‘friendly skies’.
However in recent years, travelling by aeroplane has not always been a pleasant experience.
Heightened security, long wait times and severe travel restrictions have made some consumers question their mode of travel.
That issue aside however there are a number of people who bravely still fly overseas for vacation.
Ticket prices normally rise during the Winter season, however since this also the time of year that everyone has days off from school and work it is the ideal time to travel.
I have found that if you are prepared you can make the best of travelling during the holiday season.
Here are some travel tips:
- Buy your ticket online (saves money and you can check the prices of other airlines)
- Be on time for your flight.
- Do not buy airport food as it is notoriously expensive.
- Wear comfortable shoes that are easy to take off and put on.
- Book your ticket early and save money.
- Don’t wrap any gifts you have bought and put in your luggage ahead of travel. (They will have to be opened during the security check)
- Weigh suitcases before going to the airport so there are no surprise extra fees at the airport.
- Use travel points earned on credit cards to buy your ticket. (This feature is only offered on selected credit cards)
- Fly the day of the holiday or after as most people want to get to their destination before the holiday so those flights will not be as crowded or expensive.
What are your tips for saving money while you travel?
Let me hear from you!
