Online banking – the way forward!

Author : teriann

I am slightly old fashioned.

I know I am revealing my age with that information but it really just means I am comfortable with the traditional way of doing certain things.

One of these traditional ways is going inside banks to transact any financial matters. Don’t get me wrong I detest standing in lines with nothing to do but stare ahead at the other tortured souls standing ahead of me.

At one particular bank I stood in a line for almost thirty minutes just to find out I had to rejoin another line for assistance.

So with all the drama of waiting why do I still go inside banks?

I like interacting with a real person especially if I have an issue that needs clarification.

This is also why I shy away from telephone discussions with banking representatives. Although there are some queries that can be addressed by this means I find it makes me feel more reassured if I interact with the representative face to face.

Technology Fails

My biggest problem with using the Internet to bank is that technology is not always reliable.

The connection might be down or the network might have problems at a time when you need information or to complete a transaction.

I am also horrible at remembering online passwords. They are often case sensitive and I have fears of being locked out because of my poor memory.

Technology is the future!

So my misgivings aside, should you try Internet banking?

Well if you do then you will have the freedom of paying bills, transferring money from one account to another all without leaving the comfort of your own home.

There are a lot of other benefits to banking online such as reduced bank charges. Banks charge for every transaction done inside the bank such as checking balances and transferring funds.

It is always a good idea to save money. So I might have to decide to embrace the new technology so that I can utilize these benefits.

In some countries customers can even take a picture of their cheque, have it verified sent to the bank and the funds deposited in their account. Jamaica is not there as yet although you can do a number of transactions online.

So do you bank online? It is certainly the way of the future!
