7 tips to save money in 2012

Okay so we all know about new year resolutions. We make them every year as we promise to do a whole lot of changing so we can enjoy a better quality of life. How many of us though actually follow through on our resolutions?

The secret of ensuring that we follow through on our resolutions is to commit to them and make the change a step by step procedure that is easy to follow. My resolution ( and I am sure I am not alone) is to save more money this year than I did last year. How will I ensure my success?

Here are just 7 tips I have collected to make sure that we will all save money this year.

  • Collect and examine receipts from last year. (Make a record of how much was spent)
  • Make a budget (and stick to it)
  • Start your own vegetable garden in your backyard.
  • Buy more things in bulk at wholesales.
  • Collect and use coupons for services and goods from various companies which are printed in The Gleaner.
  • Carpool with friends to save on gas.
  • Prepare more meals at home and eat out less.

I hope we are all successful with our resolve to save money this year. How do you plan to save money in 2012? Let me hear from you!
