Jamaican born designer Marvalyn Nelson’s women’s and menswear collection were both sassy and stylish. Bold African inspired prints and tie dyed effects were dominant in the women’s wear collection alongside the duo tone black and white ‘la dolce vita’ print with a blood red accent.
The menswear palette were more organic in muted tones of green, ochres and pastel pinks with nature inspired and ethnic prints.
Pieces from the menswear collection were textured and frayed creating a whole new dimension to the classic, tailored jackets. While the women’s collection was truly, strikingly exotic and relaxed. Both the mens and womenswear collections were easy to wear, versatile and fresh.

The now Florida based designer was one of the few we saw at CFW that considered the ‘fluffy’ plus size ladies in her collection. We appreciate it!
Finally, I would be at fault if I left without mentioning the accessories for this collection. The bags, hats and jewellery had a strong ethnic influence with a modern, futuristic edge. .. Loved them!
My must haves from this collection were the delicious ‘la dolce vita’ print dress with the blood red accent on the shoulder and the stunningly wearable haulter tie dye print dress with the amazing animal/tie dye, abstract print bag. Bold and beautiful.
