Hi fashionista’s,
I want to thank you for all your comments. I do read them and I do listen to you So you want more regional fashion updates… well your wish is my command.
Saint International marked 2010 with its 10th presentation of ‘The Fashion Face of the Caribbean 2010 Finals’ and the ‘Avant Garde Designer of the Year Award’ last Saturday.
All I can say is that this event is just been getting bigger and better!
The production was outstanding (apart from the late start), but the audience were not to be disappointed. We were treated to an incredibly high quality of contestants and designs that could easily have graced the runways of the recently held Paris and London Fashion Weeks.
Dewight Peters must be commended for gathering such a high calibre of internationally renown judges… There reputations and achievements place them at the top of this highly competitive industry, and I would like to thank them for including Jamaica in their very busy schedules…“Oh Jamaica, we little but we tallawah…”
The judges were: Wayne Sterling, Conor Kennedy, Jose Covarrubias, Tammy Francis, Philip McGowan.
From the moment we entered the lounge to peruse the exhibition you could feel that the air was charged with anticipation and excitement. As we sipped our cocktails appropriately named ‘showstopper’ and had a multitude of pictures taken we enjoyed the ambiance and conversation with fashion forward divas! Jamaica is truly full of style!!
The show did not disappoint. The vibe created by the music was fabulous! Almost every genre was represented as the models rocked the runway in amazing creations, by designers such as Dexter Pottinger, (How do you do it year in year out? Fab pieces!) Pablo Palair, (I saw some pieces my man just has to have ) H.O.D By Gregory Williams (I saw far to many pieces I just have to have ) Andre Rowe (Your going from strength to strength… my brother!). Yola Gray (keep on doing what your doing girlfriend!) and so many more including newcomers such as Felicity and Balla Shawn.
A closely run competition, but the winner of the Avant Garde Award 2010 was H.O.D by Gregory Williams. Gregory you deserved it truly a creation that pushed the envelope and made a phenomenal statement.
I really did not envy the job of the judges, the standard of the models was extremely high. However I must say I did pick the top two models in the male and female competition The top 3 for each were as follows:
Male
Winner: Shavan Fraser
Runner up: Brad Allen
3rd place: Dwaine Johnson
Female
Winner: Ornelia Edwards
Runner up: Laura Toto
3rd place: Aneita Moore
I’m sure we will be seeing and hearing a lot more from these young ladies and gentlemen… London, Milan, New York,Paris here they come
It would be amiss of me not to mention the entertainment. ‘Bad gyal’ Cecile, not only looked a treat (styled by Dexter Pottinger). Loved the outfit and I want those shoes! She treated the audience to an array of songs both old and new… you go girl for connecting through song and humour with the audience. An outstanding performance!
D’Angel stirred the audience into a frenzy while she sang and worked the runway (her second home after the stage). The best performance I’ve seen from this young lady to date…
Once again Dewight Peters the CEO and President of Saint International should be proud of himself and his team. I have to give a special ‘big up’ to Meisha, your a star!
Did you attend the show? What did you think of the designs and the models? Do you think our models and designers are amongst the best in the world?
Enjoy the pictures and leave a comment or two.
