Dear Fashionista’s
The Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week, Fall/Winter 2009 had a very different look this year. The first obvious change was that the usual extravagance of the New York shows were scaled back. The shows were much more personable as intimate settings such as lounges were selected, primarily due to the recession.
The main theme’s we saw on the runways can be narrowed down to the following: 1980 influences, lots of black, fur and escapism. It’s impossible to mention all the designers so below are just a few that illustrate those themes.
Doo Ri Chung’s collection was predominantly black with a hint of purple. Don’t you just love the deconstructive element depicted by the use of leather on this jacket.
Michael Kor’s collection was definitely influenced by the 1980′s. We saw lots of fur detailing and glorious 80′s cuts…
Marchesa’s fairytale inspired collection. Allows ladies to get ‘ glammed up’ … the stresses of life are so easy to forget when you look and feel wonderful. These pieces are definitely fantastical.
Ralph Lauren was his usual outstanding self. His collection showcased classic beautifully made silhouette’s. He also launched a new line of exquisite watches. The dress above is absolutely gorgeous…don’t you think!
