Hello Fashionista’s’
Saint International presented, The Fashion Face of the Caribbean Finals 2009, at the Courtleigh Auditorium on Friday night.
Friday 13th was definitely a good omen for the winners, Orlando Lopez (right) and Ashane Rose. Saint Internationals CEO Dwight Peters (left) seems very happy with the end result.
Congratulations to you all!!!
We have all seen America’ Next Top Model – so we have an understanding of the challenges these two now face.
How well do you think they will do on the World’s ‘runways’?
Tell me your thoughts fashionista’s.

Unfortunately black models don’t get the exposure they deserve in the world market. Its probably going to be even harder coming from an island! Fingers crossed for these two up & comings!!
KERRY.
HERE IS OUR PROBLEM, “WE CATER TOO MUCH TO WHITE PEOPLE AND BROWN PEOPLE. THERE ARE A LOT OF GOOD LOOKING BLACKS WHO JUST NEED THE EXPOSURE TO SOME OF OUR OWN TALENT AGENCY TO BE ABLE TO PROMOTE OUR SELVES/COUNTRY. WHAT THE CLOTHING MANUFACTURERS OF JAMAICA SHOULD DO .IS TO FIND A WAY TO PRESSURE THEIR POLITICIANS TO IMPOSE STIFF TARIFF ON IMPORTED CLOTHS, SO JAMAICANS MANUFACTURERS CAN COMPETE.
CUT THE PRICE ON RAW MATERIALS IMPORTS . BUT HIKE THE TARIFF ON THE FINISHED GOOD IMPORTS. THEN THAT SHOULD HELP TO PROMOTE OUT GARMENT INDUSTRY THUS HELP UP COMING MODELS. THERE SHOULD ALSO BE SOME CLOTHES THAT SHOULD NOT BE MODELED BY ANY LIGHT COLORED SKINNED JAMAICANS. SHOULD BE REAL DARK SKINNED JAMAICANS. ITS JUST TO SHOW THAT ITS NOT ONLY LIGHT SKINNED PEOPLE WHO HAVE SUCH TALENT.
I agree with you both, to a point. If you go to pulsemodels.com you will notice that all, with the exception of a few of their models are dark-skinned, especially the more successful ones. Most of Jamaica has not embraced the dark-skinned beauties as yet, but trust me the acceptance is growing. I am in the process of starting a fashion magazine despite how broke I am. It will be based in Jamaica, and eventually the Caribbean and the U.K.. My aim is to showcase the talent and the artistic inclination of our proud people, and I believe it will do well.
I don’t agree with the comment that light skinned people should not wear a certain type of garment, thats just reverse discrimination. But i do hope to promote Jamaica’s fashion and ensure that people of all shades, particularly the darker shade, know just how truly beautiful ans talented they are.
I want o showcase clothes designed by Jamaicans, made and distributed in Jamaica, and try to legitimize its obvious quality. My hope is to get Jamaicans to be as enthusiastic about their own products as they are of “foreigners.”
I hope I can count on both your support.
hi dwight your so so cute. thats all i can say
I strongly agree with you Stacey!!!
