On the weekend I ventured to a hair salon in a slightly nervous state since, I was planning to change my look again!
I knew exactly what i wanted my hair to look like on completion and I am happy to report it really did.
There are a variety of ways to achieve that amazing look. Tia Mowry*, star of “The Game”, is pictured here in a long straight hairstyle.
I’m thinking hair extensions helped achieved this look. Doesn’t she look fabulous.
Below are some pointers on how to make sure that your experience at the hairdressers is as pleasant and successful as mine.
- Firstly do your research. It’s important that you look through hair magazines to find a style that appeals to you. Whatever images you select you need to take them to the hairdresser for discussion.
- Remember, the look can be customised to suit your taste. So talk to your stylist about the shape, length, colour etc. It doesn’t have to be exactly the same as the picture.
- A good stylist is critical. Probably the most important thing you need is a good stylist. When your placing your hair in their care you have to be confident in their abilities. So reference checking is critical. Ask your girlfriends, colleagues for recommendations ask persons you see on the street or at the bank who always have amazing hair where they get it done and by whom?
- Another good benchmark is training. Beauty salons with training programmes, usually have good stylists. Why? Because those stylists are continually upgrading their skill set and expertise. Check out design or should I say fashion forward salons. This is a good indicator of the commitment to the business of the owner. So watch out for damaged partitions, display cases and broken sinks!
So fashionistas, happy hairstyling, be bold, and be brave with that new look. If you bear these simple steps in mind you definitely will be leaving the salon a much happier woman.
Share your hair ‘nightmare’ experiences with me… I am also interested in ‘great’ experiences too. Just add a comment as to be forewarned is to be forearmed. Shaz
