Show stopping collections at Milan…

Hello fashionistas

Milan Fashion Week is known through out the world for its  luxurious, beautifully made and timeless pieces adorning the runway. Today I am sharing a few collections that were show stoppers for very different reasons.

Prada oozed sensibility and style with 40’s inspired tweed separates and suits perfect for the work environment.  Loved the cuts!

The designer herself referred to this collection as a way of satisfying “a need for feminine empowerment” and there definitely were masculine touches. Such as the leather belts and footwear. Sorry to say I really disliked the footwear far too masculine for me but the leather and sequined bags were fab!

Dolce & Gabbana‘s ensembles were far from simple. We witnessed  1980’s inspired collection, with all the glamour and glitz of the 1940’s thrown in. Elements of Marilyn Monroe and Minnie Mouse were present alongside luxurious yet controversial choices such as, fox and mink. I loved the 30’s/40’s gloves worn as scarves and head pieces! The smokey eyes with lips that pop were absolutely gorgeous!!

All I have to say about Versace is the dresses were absolutely orgasmic! I mean the trenches, skirts and bomber jackets were cute but the slinky dresses were all show stoppers. I was captivated by the sea of colours and the intricate beading and detailing on the dresses. A collection that was creative, refreshing and original. FABULOUSNESS to the max!

Marni’s collection was one of casual elegance. The mixture of textures and layering was definitely appealing. What was with the hairy mitts though! My favourite element had to be the stockings, socks and tights, loved the texture, patterns and colour combinations. Really cool!

Special mention goes to the following designers.  Max Mara, Gucci, DSquared2, Fendi, Moschicino and John Richmond. All presented great collections.

So fashionistas whose show did you like? Why? I’m waiting for your comments….Shaz
