Summer is here again and parents breathe a sigh of relief for the wonderful invention of summer school. Still as wonderful as it is to ship the kids off, the costs of such programmes have steadily risen over the years.
An overview of the programmes offered revealed an average cost of $6000-$10000 per week. Those figures do not include lunch and transportation costs.
So is it a good investment? Well as a parent myself, I would say yes, primarily because I would be driven mad trying to entertain an active seven year old for two months. Still if money is an issue you could always send them to relatives in the country. What do you do with the kids for the summer?

Hey! Just wanted to thank you for the informative post! Do you post every week? Thanks!
I usually post twice per each week. Keep visiting!
If you cannot afford the expensive Summer Camp then send them to St. Bess. That is where I often go during the Summer as a kid, and I was already living in the country in the first place, but it was a little town in the country. So going to ST Bess was really going in the country and I would eat a lot of mangoes, sweet sop; and run all day and did not see one single car that would require close supervision. Is St. Bess still like that? Or is there a few M16 in the fisherman boat?
Thanks Vivian for the suggestions.
