Is Jamaica 'going green'? (Part 1)

Author : teriann

Earth Day was celebrated worldwide on April 22,2010.  Do Jamaicans really know what it means to ‘go green’? I don’t think that enough is done to educate the average Jamaican on the importance of protecting our natural resources.

I think we use too many plastic products.  Also despite anti-litter laws,  garbage is still improperly discarded.

What can we do to ensure that  our environment remains ‘green’?  What are your thoughts?

  5. Excellent read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on that. And he actually bought me lunch because I found it for him smile So let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch!

Would love to see JA embrace the “Green” way of thinking. Hope to see more info on the subject. It makes me sad to see so much litter in such a beautiful place.

Well Robin its a step in the right direction when we get people talking, the next step is action.

Jamaica is definately not green enough. We have so many resources that we could use and stop using things like oil but I guess they are saying its way too expensive to even start. We should look at the outcome and not how much it will cost, because I am pretty sure, in the end it will even cost less.

Each and every one of us should start in our communities by taking care of our communities, keeping it clean, unblocking the drains of the garbage especially plastic bottles. We need to do more as an indivual.
