I know I have your attention as saving money is definitely a popular topic as the economy continues to squeeze consumers’ pockets dry. It has occurred to me that we must utilize everything to our disposal, including technology, in order save our hard earned money.
The Internet has already been touted as the new wave of communication for this generation so why not use this powerful tool to save our money?
I have a few tips that highlight the ways in which consumers can save by using the Internet.
- Try Internet banking. Many banks allow customers to conduct cashless transactions such as deposits or transfer as well checking the balance of your account. This service is also available at the ATM but online it is free.
- Pay your bills online. Of course, this requires a credit card but it has the added bonus of avoiding long lines.
- Check out the Facebook pages of your favourite companies. Recently both CranWata and The Jamaica Biscuit Company had giveaways on their Facebook pages for their customers. Often the prizes are gift baskets or coupons for the product.
- Check the Gleaner’s website at www.jamaica-gleaner.com as it often features companies who advertise special deals for their customers.
- Tired of paying for long phone calls? Why not try Skype? It’s free to download and it allows individuals to enjoy international and local video and voice calling.
- Don’t spend money at the cinema as you can legally download some movies from the internet for free and watch them at home.
So how do you use the internet to save money? Let me hear from you!
