The Summer heat brings a host of other problems including trying to keep cool.
Recently I blogged about activities you can involve your kids so that they are not bored at home.
However, someone commented that there were not many attractions that Jamaican families can go to enjoy wholesome activities.
I realize that we can’t compete with the various attractions that are found internationally but I think that there are options for families to enjoy the Summer in Jamaica. My two top picks for staying cool and family friendly are Dolphin Cove in Ocho Rios and Kool Runnings Water and Adventure Park in Negril.
Kool Runnings Water and Adventure Park caters for every member of the family.
Patrons can enjoy Captain. Mikie’s Coconut Island for toddlers and small kids or there is the ‘Kick Puppalick’ water slide for thrill seekers. The Adventure Park also features drag racing and paintball/laser tag fun.
Children two years and older are free. There is also a lower cost available for those who want to be at the park for a short time called the Twilight Special. The park offers online savings if you sign up on their website. They also have group discounts and those celebrating birthdays will receive further discounts.
What about Dolphin Cove?
Well if you are an animal lover and you always wanted to be ‘up close and personal’ then this is the attraction for you! The chance to interact with these magnificent sea creatures is a once in a lifetime event. The park offers visitors the opportunity to snorkel with stingrays and take a glass bottom boat to explore the undersea flora and fauna.
Children under 4 are free as long as they are accompanied by a paying adult. This park is not for the faint of heart but it is exciting. The rates vary for different activities. After paying the entrance fee you must then pay for the activity that interests you the most. Some activities are not for younger children as the minimum age on selected activities is 8 years old.
