There are not many reasons to celebrate these days. That is why it was a treat to be celebrating November as ‘Food Month’.
During Restaurant week, November 8 – 16, 2013, consumers turned out in droves as they were encouraged to ‘Raise a fork and lift a city’ as restaurants offered special menu items and discounted prices.
I think what I enjoy the most about this special week is the opportunity to try new dishes that I would not have normally been tempted to buy.
We are creatures of habit so often we end up ordering our usual fare at restaurants without even thinking about our other options.
The cost of some of the more exotic items also often prevent consumers from being too adventurous and sticking to the low budget options on the menu. In my opinion however, the experience would not be complete if I did not try at least ONE new dish.
It is for that reason that I found myself at Cuddy’z in New Kingston determined to try something I had never eaten before from their list of special menu offerings for Restaurant Week.
Cuddy’z is a favourite eatery of mine and I was curious to see how they would spin their offerings to entice the consumer.
The full course meal including appetizer, entree and dessert cost only $2500.00. as they are in the savory category.
Some of the items on the menu included an eggplant cheesy pizza appetizer and stuffed pork tenderloin glazed with sorrel chutney and served with garlic mashed potato.
There was also a ‘brownie bomber’ for dessert. This gastronomical delight was a warm brownie served with a scoop of icecream with chocolate syrup.
I decided to sample those dishes and I must admit, the eggplant pizza was tasty and the stuffed pork was succulent.
I must also mention the other menu choices of coconut almond chicken stew, pasta with shrimp, pan seared salmon and spicy thailand chicken kabobs were equally tempting.
The staff was friendly, warm and inviting that added to the ambiance of the meal. It was certainly money well spent and I had already decided that I was a new fan of their new menu options.
