CIRCUIT RACING : TEST AND TUNE AT DOVER RACEWAY ?

Author : cmunroe

The protests and the denial may appear, but, drag racing is undoubtedly the most popular genre of motorsport on this resilient rock. The world is slowly easing away from stringent Covid-19 restrictions, cautiously and responsibly. Jamaica has been commended for its attitude towards addressing the pandemic and hopefully we continue along this path.

Revised, relaxed restrictions were announced recently. Drag racers, or the individuals with responsibility for keeping its flame fed with C16, transitioned immediately. First gear selected – clutch depressed – accelerator forced to kiss metal – launch control intervened – eyes were  focused on the ‘tree’ awaiting the green light !

We received a message. The message confirmed that a Test and Tune session was scheduled for drag racers. Lock-down triggered myriad challenges. Words are reluctant to convey the hunger, some drivers retain, at present, to pulverize their machine.

So, Test and Tune has been organised for drag racers. We recognise, respect and must adhere to the existing Covid-19 restrictions and the requisite safety protocols. But, we would be ignoring our mandate if we did not ask – Will the JRDC organise a Test and Tune session at Dover Raceway anytime soon?
