I know what you’re thinking after the first show can the designers for the rest of the night maintain the high standard set. Well I think they did, but you decide for yourself!
The second show began with N’djamena Caprice. Her pieces were fun, COLOURFUL and funky, with a strong Caribbean feel.
This womenswear collection many items those of us attending formal evening functions. Her day wear range was also wide ranging… for all tastes. All in all it was a truly FRESH and enticing collection.
I then saw the female design duo of Born as a Raggamuffin. As you can see from the picture there designs were FANTASTIC. They were TRENDSETTING and EDGY.
The use of words/poetry on the garments expressing positive statements like “teach the babies” added a whole new dimension to the collection. Love it!
Keep up the good work ladies.
Shanika Burnett was hot on the heels of the Raggamuffin girls. Her collection was both STRONG & VIBRANT. Garments were embellished with beads, tie dyed effects and/or sequins.
Truly a beautiful collection.
The American designer Rachel Lym turned the heat up when her SEXY swimwear came down the catwalk. I saw a mixture in colour combinations and textures. Ranging from just black & white to turquoise and gold. Time to hit the beach ladies!
One of our favourite local designers Gillian Francis, MINKA was next. As usual she did not fail to please. Her crocheted pieces were FRESH & FUNKY.
All the designs showed a variety of crochet stitches that add a whole new dimension to the garment which helped to achieve those amazing fits.
Luna Designs then showed us there amazing new Sunsplash collection. The collection was BOLD & VIBRANT in every sense of the words. Featuring new shapes and keeping to the colour trends of 2009.
We also got our first look at ‘new mum’ Nadine Willis on the CFW runway wearing Luna Designs ECO FRIENDLY jewellery. Welcome back to CFW Nadine!
Amazing collection Luna Designs, see you at CFW 2009.
Apple Bottom’s show opened to the sounds of Jay Z & Rhianna’s ‘Umbrella’ – which was undoubtedly the signature sound for CFW 2007. There EDGY casual URBAN wear collection was a real treat for the eyes. Great stuff!
Zadd & Eastman were the last designers to grace us with their presence. This T&T duo did not give us any less than we expected from the team that dresses Beauty Queens. The garments were ELEGANT, fluid & absolutely BEAUTIFUL
I know what your thinking, not enough pictures of the collections. Not enough information about the designers. Don’t worry over the next few days we will be adding more images and many more features about the designers as well as showing you videos of some collections. So those of you that were unable to come can soak up the vibe & atmosphere of CFW 2008.
OOp’s I nearly forgot to mention some of the celebs/peeps that attended CFW 2008. Actress Vanessa Williams (Soul Food), the right Hon Minister Clive Mullings, Cindy Breakspare, Dr. Carolyn Cooper and many many more. Wonder who I might see at Caribbean Masters. Watch this space and you’ll be the first to know.
Remember, if you post a comment on the blog and I’ll respond, promise.
