The summer heat is definitely in full swing. Anyone who has to be outside for any length of time has suffered from the intense heat.
To make matters worse, the level of rainfall is well below expectations so we have to contend with heat and dry conditions.
The situation has become very serious as stringent measures have been introduced as consumers are being asked to avoid washing cars, watering lawns or filling pools.
There are fines that consumers will have to pay if they are caught using water in frivolous ways during the drought. Of course this is nothing new as every summer there are water restrictions.
How to deal with water restrictions!
It can be very inconvenient to have a reduced water supply especially as there are children who are home for the summer holidays.
However, there are a number of things consumers can do in order to deal with the restrictions.
A number of these water saving methods I have written about on this blog before but with the recent drought I consider it noteworthy to reinforce them.
Children especially have to be monitored has they have no concept of saving water and will happily watch it go down the drain. It is important that consumers realize that this dire situation can only improve with their contributions.
It is slightly ironic though that we live on an island and can’t find a way to desalinate the water that surrounds us. I am sure there is a way to find a cheaper alternative to the process of extracting the precious water that we all need to survive.
How are you responding to the water restrictions?
