Is bigger always better?

Consumers always want to get value for their money and so it seems we are always on the hunt for the best bargain.

If you can ‘super size’ your purchase by paying a little more, then it becomes an attractive offer for consumers.

In fact a number of fast food restaurants offer deals in which customers pay only a minimal cost for an upgrade of their purchases.

I enjoy getting deals just as much as everyone else but it makes me wonder sometimes if we are not being manipulated into thinking we need more of certain items.

Bigger not always better

In my opinion, some products do not need to be encouraged to be ‘super sized’ as they really do more harm than good. For example do you really need to drink that much soda and eat that many french fries?

These types of foods are notoriously unhealthy and is better if they are eaten in moderation.

Some advertisements claim that if you buy three of a certain item then you get two items free. While this is a tempting offer, consider if you really need five of the same item before you purchase them.

Another thing to bear in mind is that the cost of the item purchased might be over inflated so you that really you are paying for the other items in the final price without being aware of it.

It is important to also consider that when buying goods in bulk, the quality of the item can be compromised.

I recently excitedly picked up a larger size of a product that I normally purchase in small quantities, only to discover that the larger size did not taste the same as its smaller counterpart.

I was very disappointed by that experience!

Don’t get me started on those huge smart phones on the market!

Do we really need a phone screen to be as big as a small television?

All in all bigger is not always better!  What is your take? Let me hear from you!

No. Just look at mother nature, all living things start out tiny tiny. But before they might get tallawah, they’ll need to prove its will to rise. Fighting the struggle is big!
