Recently there has been a lot of criticism for the charges banks add to customers for various transactions.
In all fairness, everyone knows that all banks charge for some services, such as changing checks and using A.T.M. machines. However, did you know that some banks charge you if you go below a minimum balance in your account?
So let’s get it straight!
They want to punish those of us who have to use almost every cent each month to fulfill our needs?
Seems a bit high handed to me and the mattress is looking good to keep my funds! In this current economic environment I am not sure the banks are sending the right message.
What do you think about it?

We all understand that we need to pay some service charges at any given point but to charge us for having less than what we can afford to keep in our bank account definitely is not a good message…
I fully agreed the banks are causing addition
stress to their customers with these additional
charges.
Consumers are being taxed left, right and centre by government, and now the banks are on us too. we are already being charged ATM fees, etc, but to withdraw our own money to feed our families, no, that way too much.
They are driving us to withdraw every red cent to keep under our mattresses, so now they wont have any money to draw from.
I agree Andre though they say that the system needs time to adjust. What about their customers? When will we see these changes?
This has been goin on for a while now, We (consumers) should shop around for a bank as we do buying cars etc, Pick the bank that best fit our needs, Joining a Credit Union, might be a good idea. Bank of today are all about greed, lets show them we as customers will no longer put up with it, Take your money somewhere else (Credit unions), where we are treated as people and not just the money we can give them. Take a look at the banks finicial statements and see how much profit the make per quarter and then you will see how greedy they are, now remember the profit is the money they have left over after they have paid all bills.
Y does it takes more than a day to open an acct?
What the heck is a “dormant acct”, ? Its the customer money they have it there in the bank, so what if 9 mths goes by without activity.
The banks will nickle & dimes us anyway they can, we r paying to have them keep our money
while daily they collect interest from loaning o-u-r money. The mattress is looking safer you put a $ in when u go back and check its still a $
So true Jo we pay for them to keep our own money!!
Great !! ! article I’ll return later for more thanks a million

Thank you for your article,It’s well written, in depth posts like these that have aided me in becoming a good forex trader.
Agreeing with Jo, “what is a DORMANT account,is it that intrest isn’t being calculated daily. I remember I had an account with a building society when I was a little boy, and did not put any money in it till I became a teenager, and the took my book and updated it and I got intrest. Credit Unions are becomming banks interms of how they operate now a days….we can’t win.
The mattress really is beginning to look safer than the bank. They need the profits but they promised that my money would be safe with them, now only to find out that they are emptying my account with some really bizarre charges. Come on Banks in Jamaica do better than that.
It remains one of life’s greatest mysteries why and how that works, I’m glad I stumbled across this website!
Talking about the stock exchange is always interesting and enlightening. I’ll wait for the next posting. Thank you.
