How to avoid ‘Buyers’ Remorse’!

Author : teriann

It’s all happened to us after some shopping trips.  You get home and examine your purchases and realize that you made a bad decision.

Maybe the item was badly damaged and you did not see the damage before or maybe you just realized that it was just not what you expected.

Shop Carefully!

The worst part about ‘buyers’ remorse’ is that often it could have been avoided if you had shopped carefully. The problem is often persons shop in a rush and do not take the time to examine the product carefully before purchasing it.

It is much better to shop when you have the time to do so and take the time you need to consider if the item is worth the cost.

Research

Consumers must always ensure before they even walk in the store that they have done their proper research.  This includes checking online deals and calling around at a few stores for the item.

A very important part of research is to actually visit the stores that have advertised the product to ensure that you don’t miss further deals.

Read reviews online or ask persons who have already bought the item, compare prices, and look for price-matching deals.

Pressure to buy

Ever feel pressure by sales person to buy a product? Always  remember that the role of a sales person is to sell the products in the store.  Most of them are not interested in suitability of the product to meet your needs.

Whenever you feel pressured by a salesperson, just walk away.

There’s rarely a sale so steep you can’t score the same deal at another retailer, and by walking away, you remove yourself from the pressure zone.

If you really want to make the purchase, set a reminder on your phone for two or three weeks in the future. When the alarm goes off, reevaluate whether you still want the item. Chances are your attitude will have changed.

Don’t forget you must always retain your receipt just in case despite your precautions, you really don’t like what you bought!

So how do you ensure that you do not have ‘buyers’ remorse’?

Let me hear from you!
