Driving by at 100 miles per hour as your tires seem to float over smooth asphalt is an experience not often enjoyed on Jamaica’s roads.
The construction of the toll road created much controversy but for the most part it certainly helped cut travel time on smoother road surfaces.
Have the toll roads really proved to be worth the cost?
Well on some stretches of the toll persons are often seen languishing on the side of the road as if their vehicles just could not take the strain of navigating such a smooth surface. Then there are those who think the roads are landing strips and attempt to take off and cause accidents.
Let’s not forget the lovely smoke from the nearby cane fields that sometimes spreads across the road.
Then there are the toll rate increases. Motorists will be faced with increase of the toll rate which will be effective on July 9, 2011. Motorists will pay between $10 to $20 more for the Portmore and Spanish Town legs of their journey.

So is it worth it? You be the judge! Let me hear from you!

I never driven on it neither have I seen it!.. but one thing I know is that the fare started out too high for something that will be there may be for as long as another fifty years!. where the road will be paid for multiple times over and beyond!…
I believe the government should step in and recalculate the length of time and then come up with a justified rate of fare to cross it!..
I have driven on several toll roads and the rates are nothing like this!..
They are way less!
It is unfortunate that we have to choose. Most times persons only use the toll road on one leg of the journey, either going or coming, which is a clear indication that we need and want the road, but the price is too steep. So really, it’s only sort of worth it. lol
Am I the only one to disagree?
