I have one of those digital metres that Jamaica Public Service (JPS) recently installed in many homes across Jamaica.
I think that it probably registers the electricity in my brain and converts it to how much I will pay in my next bill. That’s the only way I can explain my exorbitant bills!
In a bid to cut back on my bill I routinely plug out appliances when they are not in use and turn off lights when I leave a room.
So what suggestion does JPS make to ease the financial strain on consumers? They have suggested that the Government ban incandescent light bulbs. They are cheaper than the fluorescent bulbs but they don’t last as long and use less energy.
I do think paying less is a great idea but I wonder if a ban might be going too far. After banning the incandescent light bulbs what will they ban next? Just my thoughts. What do you think? Should incandescent light bulbs be banned?
