Claro Customers in limbo!

Author : teriann

So here we are again, the more things change the more they remain the same. Do you remember when there was just one provider of telecommunication in Jamaica? If you did not like the service it provided there was little you could do about it.

Then there was a light at the end of the tunnel. Customers could now feel the freedom of choice as they were courted by all three providers. The competition among Claro, Lime and Digicel certainly benefited customers as they could switch providers if they so desired.

The merger between Digicel and Claro sparked controversary as it would cement Digicel as a telecommunication giant. At first as a part of the merger agreement they continued to operate separately but recently that condition was removed. As of March 1, 2012, Claro no longer exists as a separate entity. So what happens to Claro customers now?

Claro customers will have to find a new home. Of course Lime would love to give them a home but Digicel might have other ideas. In the meantime Claro customers can only reminise about what used to be a more competitive landscape.
What are your thoughts on the issue? Let me hear from you!
