F1: Will Vettel clinch the title in Singapore?

Author : cmunroe

I love to hate Singapore. This city-state, a minute segment of the earth’s crust, a dormitory country, where they have to build high, instead of wide, to house highly educated, gainfully employed, but spoilt citizens, is unmatched in its ability to hurl my envy into the counter-productive – red zone!

Somewhere in the world, I am certain that there is a university with a course titled -  Singapore. Why? Singapore is the perfect case study, to illustrate ambitious vision-inspired leadership. Singapore represents what Jamaica could have been if we had grabbed our independence by the reins and went into the abyss armed with honest self- respecting tools and a mindset driven by the conviction, that our greatest asset is our people and through enhancing their innate potential, we would propel the nation into the stratosphere of economic growth and achievement.

As if it wasn’t enough to flaunt its ultra high standard of living and champagne-sipping quality of life, Singaporeans went motorsports shopping. They bought themselves a spot on the F1 calendar! Lucky bastards!

Vettel

F1 paddle-shifts into Singapore this weekend for an unusual event – a night race! I can hear everyone posing the same question – Will Sebastian Vettel clinch the title? After his roller coaster ride last season, Vettel must be feeling a bit relieved that the road travelled this season was significantly less treacherous.

With a wrestler’s grip on P1, Vettel’s dominance has raised the bar to Olympic pole-vault levels and he has successfully demoted former world champions to the ego-decimating section – also ran. The reality of what he has done this season will require more detailed analysis and history will decipher the writings in the cave, of what is undoubtedly a spectacular performance thus far. The possibility of claiming a second title with a handful of races to go is simply incredible. The hours are ticking by. We will see what Singapore delivers.

Incidentally, I saw this video of a night race in Abu Dhabi. Will the bull-run under the lights in Singapore deliver racing of a similar pedigree?
