Circuit Racing: Dean Corrodus plots Kyle Gregg’s demise

Dean Corrodus is a businessman and a race car driver. A perusal of his motorsports biography confirms involvement in this activity which stirs the soul, for 15 years.

Within recent times, he has been a major advocate of the Honda way of life. The transformation of his Honda Civic Type R – from mild to wild – is the subject of informed public discourse, thanks to the fanatic Honda loyalists on wheelsjamaica.com.

Dean’s machine has had more highs and lows than the tide, but, the competitive fire is eternal and apparently the flame intensifies when an obstacle appears.

Dean Corrodus wears several hats of responsibility. At present, he is the Chairman of the JMMC (Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club) and an executive member of the Jamaica Race Driver’s Club (JRDC).

Dean is widely known as an organizer of motorsports events. In one year (2007), he was instrumental in organizing 15 motorsports event! In the same year, 2007, he went in, clothes first, in the laundry business, when he played an integral role in coordinating the Red Bull Soapbox race!

Dean has been absent from circuit racing for 2011 thus far. The last time I saw his machine in action, was at a rally in Mandeville. Unfortunately, during the rally, the Type R was attacked by a terminal mechanical virus, which inhibited its ability to deliver the speed-seeking, high-pitched, pulsating notes, one expects of a well-built, VTEC inspired motor.

Dean getting ready to assault the unsuspecting asphalt ahead.

Suffice it to say, he commissioned the winning Honda formula – the M.A.D. man (Xavier Murray). Dean’s machine is now in Montego Bay being prepped for battle. When I spoke to him, he told me that the current motor is not the most powerful he has had, but it feels good and he simply wants to – “Run and have some fun” and in the process, “reiterate Honda’s dominance”.

Dean’s Automotive Performance Centre Ltd, ATL Automotive Racing, Superior Auto Parts, M.A.D. Racing, Maxxis Tyres, Honda Civic Type R, will be present on the grid on Sunday and hopefully Monday (17th ). It goes without saying that he intends to put its best wheel forward.

Dean is an organizer. At the Heroes of Speed race meet, Dean will attempt to organize success where all have failed miserably. According to Dean, he wants to give Kyle some competition!

Do you think he is dreaming? The verdict will be made public the evening of the 17th!

Heroes of Speed, Dover Raceway, Oct. 16th and 17th
