Drifting: A V8 motor – the way forward?

Author : cmunroe

Years ago you would be kicked into exile if you suggested that:

1. American cars can drift

2. a V8 motor is an ideal power-plant for a drift car.

Drifting simply would not have it. It was an affront to the movement, breaching the code, violating the principles and raping the concept. How dare you! You would be vociferously accused of contaminating the breed!

Time has a way of changing though and with time, perceptions, views and norms all tick, tock and follow dynamic paths.

So what was forbidden territory months or years ago, is now the new fad/craze. History has the luxury of determining if the present will advance the sport. But, considering that we exist in the here and now and may not have the favored opportunity of being history’s judge, we should simply be thankful that America has not only embraced drifting, but has also strengthened the revolution by providing tire- ripping power, spawned from the loins of maniacal V8 motors.

Nb. I know Tanner was not a competitor in 2011 Formula D.

Do you think the V8 (in drifting) is here to stay?
