The transformation of the AE86 is in full swing now. Sometimes you have to grab the moment and run with it, problems included. The issues which surfaced with the brakes have all been resolved. The rotors and drums underwent plastic surgery and with a little nip and tuck here and there, a more efficient and purposeful system is now in place. Testing will confirm the nature of the changes required – if any.
Rear – Before Surgery
A massive gap between the fender and the tire does nothing for the stance of the machine, so the current builder, Marvin, suggested a temporary solution, which is much more pleasing to the eyes than that which previously existed.
The essential gauges – water temperature, oil temperature and oil pressure currently reside in homes beyond the confines of the machine. They have not found a permanent residence in their proposed location in the machine as yet. Their installation will be addressed shortly.
Unfinished exhaust manifold
What is on the agenda and will be dealt with at present, is the exhaust manifold. As may be seen from the photograph the exhaust manifold sits in an unfinished state. Based on the current plan and time-line, the manifold, collector and muffler system should be completed in a day or two, afterwhich, another update will flow.
