24 hours of Le Mans: Audi’s R18 e-tron hybrid quattro.

Author : cmunroe

This side of human existence, woke up to Audi doing what Audi does best at Le Mans – win! Audi brought the broom to France and swept positions 1-2-3 in the process. I will not lament on Audi’s accomplishment, the international media will do that. What I will emphasize, however, is the fact that, in winning the 24 hour race, the manufacturer is also actively enhancing the process of hybrid acceptance.

Hybrid technology is not a concept that diehard racers embrace willingly, but the writing is becoming that much clearer on the motorsports wall, that the future is nearer than we think. Make a note in your mental books – Audi won the 2012 edition of Le Mans, its 80th running, with hybrid technology!

Yes you are being drawn, reluctantly, kicking and screaming, but take a word of advice – if it can win races, its fine by me!

Nb. Toyota, but for unfortunate circumstances, would have posed a serious threat to Audi’s domination. Victory for Toyota 2013?
