MotoGP, F1 and Drag Racing – Championships settled and 8 seconds machines at Jamwest!

What do I do when I am not writing (typing) ? I think about what I will write. I begin so many stories when I am in the car or walking from point A to point B, it is scary. I will admit, it is as if I am consumed, but, I enjoy it – so – what the hell!

Anyway, motorsports events continue to infuse excitement into the monotonous lives of individuals here and abroad and for that we are grateful. But, tracking all of the events, at times, is an arduous task, but we are committed – we embrace the challenge!

MotoGP

As stated in the previous blog, the Zuckerberg of MotoGP, Marc Marquez, like an unforgiving tsunami, swept away the band of combatants who were bold enough to face the frightening wave. The records he has rewritten are still being determined – there are too many! We are fortunate to have witnessed his plunder and seizure of all that the championship had to offer, in this his first year at the premier level!

At each round, I viewed rather closely his riding style and it brought me back to words uttered by Casey Stoner which when interpreted will hit fans of the ‘Doctor’ like a spear from Spartacus! Think on this – we have seen the best of Valentino Rossi and from all the camera angles I have seen, a fit, healthy and motivated Marquez, Lorenzo or even Pedrosa, will ensure that the legend, Rossi, will be barred from the title of World Champion. A new era has began – Marc Marquez!

F1

I wish the individuals who occupy the seat of power in F1 would watch/study the NASCAR model of racing. Yes, I can hear the shouts of disapproval, but, remove your emotions from the discourse, apply 1/3 of your intelligence and chances are you might just see the light. Who wants a series with a run-away winner – a one horse race or a series with the race winner known even before the weekend begins. Well, sorry to say gentlemen, this is exactly what F1 had on show in 2013. I lost interest a long time ago and as such  I chose to  watch the highlights of the Rounds than the actual races.

Changes are on the cards for 2014, so we will wait and we will see if the quality of the competition improves.

Vettel and Red Bull Racing did what they excel at in F1′s current format – they drove away with both championships before any other team on the grid even conceptualized a worthy challenge. Vettel’s World Champion count is now at 4 and he has not exited his 20′s! That is no minute feat, but considering that he steers the product of Adrian Newey’s drawing devices, I am not surprised. Congratulations Vettel and Red Bull racing!

Drag Racing

On the local scene, the NDRC will be staging an event on December 15th. But before their competitors race to the line at the end of the 1320ft, the crew from the west who operate from Jamwest Speedway will have their event -  End of Year Drags - on December 8th. It is a ‘tight’ proposition, but old time people seh -” it caan too much!”

I was contacted recently by Elle, a Jamwest representative and he suggested that some rather rapid machines from overseas will be landing on our shores and like the English, when they arrived in the 1600′s, their plan involves defeating all that the local folk have to hurl at them. He mentioned machines capable of kicking down the 8 seconds barrier!

Will any of our local-bred machines silence the obnoxious foreigners? It should be interesting. Elle I await the information!

Stay connected.
