Formula 1: Will Red Bull fly away from the flock this weekend?

What do you expect your drivers and race-team to do when they are competing on the track that you own? Win! Duh!

Dietrich Mateschitz is no average Joe. The Austrian is a permanent fixture on the Forbes List and his Red Bull empire has more reach than the FBI! It is common knowledge, to even an ignorant recluse, that Mr Mateschitz owns the team which has been the dominant force in F1 for more years than Ferrari would be willing to admit.

Mercedes AMG

But, 2014, thanks to a plethora of rule changes and the tireless effort of the chasing pack, especially Mercedes AMG, has been rather uncaring to the team fed by the energy drink juggernaut! And what has stunned the Red Bull-faithful speechless, is the fact that their indestructible World Champion, Vettel, has lost his invincible speed!

He appears rather pedestrian at times and if  he was not humiliated enough by his lack of race-winning pace, his broad,comical-smiling team-mate, Ricciardo, is producing more fruitful results – winning at the Canadian GP!

All is not well in Red Bull’s performance department, but, they must be hoping that they can keep the momentum gained in Canada. Who wouldn’t, considering where this weekend’s Grand Prix will be held!

This weekend, Bernie’s circus will entertain at the track which is included on Mr Mateschitz’s list of assests, in Austria. The championship is delicately poised. Lewis Hamilton will be wrapped in what appears to be the continuous chase of his championship-leading,German teammate, thanks to his DNF in Canada (he has two DNF’s thus far).

Red Bull Racing will be at home and they have only one victory to show from 7 trips to the track (Hamilton-4 – Rosberg-2). Ricciardo has a plan and his climb to the top step of the podium at the previous Round should provide all the wings he needs to crave more of the same.

Will Lewis Hamilton win in Austria? Will the Red Bull boys fly away from the flock this weekend?

Mr Mateschitz will be watching!
