Circuit Racing : Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) – Round 1 (videos)

The Caribbean is one of those regions which, if it was an individual it would be viewed as an enigma! History would argue, that the countries which comprise the region, share much more in common than they we are willing to agree. The facts are unavoidable and despite an ostrich’s attempt to bury our heads and  hide our eyes from the truth, it is evident that a common thread unites us and when faced with opposition from aliens, our unity is more intense than the flame which exits a MIG welding unit!

For reasons, which programs at the UWI, in the not too distant future, will grapple to explain, to answer-seeking young adults, we are our fiercest competitors. Each country within the region, posits itself as the king of the hill, the cream of the crop, the master of the game – you get the idea. The rivalry knows no time out, no out of bounds zone – politics/governance, finance, athletics, football, you name it, we go to war when we line up against each other.

Motorsports has not escaped the reach of this competitive war and the CMRC provides the perfect Las Vegas- type platform for these epic battles to be fought, but, with some semblance of order. What do you know about race-car drivers? There is only 1 thing on a race-car driver’s – To Do – list on race day – WIN EVERY RACE (I compete in).

So, what would you expect to unfold, when you take some of the best drivers and machines from several countries in the region and present them with the opportunity to race for glory at a redeveloped, modern facility, which is located on one of the crown jewels of the Caribbean – Barbados. I will tell you – call it the passion of racing – excitement, carnage, excitement, disappointment and then add some more excitement!
