Author : cmunroe

The 2014 MotoGP season has 18 Rounds. Marc Marquez and his team have adopted a unique style of celebrating each race-win – they display fingers indicating the number of victories he has thus far.

Last weekend, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (the MotoGP riders) showcased their exhilarating battalion of skillsĀ  at the Red Bull Indianapolis GP. The riders were returning from a siesta, so it would not have been far-fetched to assume that time away from the track, gave them ample time to address any shortcomings that disturbed their quest for P1, in the Rounds prior to Indy.

Former World Champion, Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo, will admit, that before the break, he did not do much to advance his 2014 prospects. On the contrary, his performance was embarrassing as he limped through a series of self-inflicted blunders!

In an interview he indicated that he made maximum use of the summer-break and as such he had regained his focus and he was ready to bring the fight to Marquez. He had his first shot at redemption during qualifying at Indy.

Dovizioso

At the track where he won in 2009, Lorenzo showed signs of a rebirth. He qualified 3rd, behind Dovizioso and Marquez. The race, however, was no bed of roses. It was an explosive affair, a firefight. Like 4 dozen crabs trapped in a minute bag, the riders jostled for freedom and P1.

Dovizioso made an early stab at the lead, but ‘The Doctor’ – Rossi – emerged as a pleasant surprise and led for several laps. Marquez, who stated on the grid that he would have a patient outlook, did just that. He crept from the line at the start and took an afternoon stroll while the flames were raging ahead. As the race progressed his pace quickened and he steamrolled the battling minors at the front.

Marquez

With Marquez at the front, the fat lady started singing. But, at the Red Bull Indianapolis GP, Lorenzo apparently bought the hype and grabbed a pair of wings. He brought a determined fight to the party. But, Marquez was too strong aboard the best bike on the grid. Marquez claimed yet another victory at Indy. Lorenzo showed signs of life, finishing P2, while Rossi closed ranks with P3.

The Gentlemen are now in the Czech Republic. Marc Marquez closed the door during qualifying and took pole. Dovizioso’s star is still shining , he sits in P2 ahead of Ianonne. Movistar Yamaha’s Lorenzo will ride off from P6, ahead of his teamamte, Rossi, P7.

At the Red Bull Indianapolis GP, Marquez and his team raised both palms and displayed ten fingers, confirming his 10th victory from 10 races! What will they do if he wins the Czech GP – the 11th Round!
