Speed Machine

Oh well, apparently Santa got stuck in the chimney, again and couldn’t deliver my present (1 of the cars on my wish list). It is my view that he has been stuck there for some time now, because each time I go out on a limb and make my wish known, the limb breaks and I am left empty-handed and unfulfilled.

Each time I hear the Santa story I realize that Santa wasn’t created with the tropics in mind. Let me elaborate. We don’t have a ‘white’ Christmas, unless we are going to drag some of those puffy cumulus clouds from their perch in the sky and give them permanent station here on land, at least for December. What is a chimney? How many Jamaican homes have chimneys?  So the only publicized route that Santa takes to get into homes (down the chimney) does not exist in Jamaica!

Motivation

I am strong willed, or so I would want to think, so guess what? I am going to use my disappointment to fuel my motivation. I am willing to sit and wait no more. I’m going to build my own speed machine. A beast that I will be proud of, one that will achieve rip roaring speeds with a mere blip of the throttle, stops on a dollar coin and handles better than a DC2 Honda Integra Type R.

An ‘old school’ rap group, The Ghetto Boys, in one of their popular songs had an introduction (to one of their songs) with the following – “There are three types of people in the world, people who watch things happen, people who wonder what just happened and people like us, who make things happen”! I am going to make things happen! I am going to build me a performance car! I will not start from a blank sheet though I do not have those skills. I know my limitations. I have a platform in mind that I will improve on to attain the desired shove in the chest torque, GTR R35-like speed and F1 handling. No more wishes/dreams – welcome reality!
