MotoGP: Stoner ready for 2010

Casey Stoner was plagued by health issues during his MotoGP campaign last season (2009). As such despite strong performances in the early rounds, he was forced to miss three rounds as the team, Ducati Marlboro, attempted to address the medical needs of their ailing star.

The two months break was time well spent and the re-energized Stoner who returned to the circuit was eager to show that he had not lost the hunger or the ability to ride a MotoGP machine. Without wasting much time, the Australian (Stoner) silenced his critics with scintillating rides and ended the season on a high note – narrowly missing out on third in the championship, despite being absent for three races!

Training

Stoner, who is now in the middle of his pre-season testing and training for the 2010 season is reported to have said that he is feeling much better than in previous years and his fitness is a lot higher than before. Stoner is ready and based on reports the Ducati Marlboro team is falling in line as well. Stoner has indicated that the improvements being made on the bike provide much more traction, he can do much more with the bike and essentially he is of the view that he will have a more balanced machine throughout the season.

Stoner, a former MotoGP World Champion, (in 2007) can only have one target, current World Champion Valentino Rossi and one goal, to win the championship. If he starts the 2010 season in a similar fashion to how he started the 2009 campaign and he remains fit and healthy throughout (the season), Valentino Rossi will have much more than his Fiat Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo to think about. MotoGP fans are in for a treat!
