Who dethroned the mighty R35 GTR at Vernamfield?

Author : cmunroe

Drag racing is an unkind sport. It rewards the Boy Scout racer – Be Prepared – and it hurls endless containers of embarrassment on the driver/ team that is of the view that they retain an unchallenged right to victory. A rather interesting tale unfolded at the most recent Drag Challenge held at Vernamfield.

Rumor has it that a well-known tuning outfit rolled out their most recent US six figures acquisition and fate decided that it’s reign would be derailed – for now – by a machine which is still clinging to its heyday. The Boy Scout won and the bank account lost! Welcome to drag racing!

So, the Jamaican contingent of GTR aficionados is still in disbelief. I witnessed nothing so I am not at liberty to express an informed opinion. But GTR fans have nothing to worry about. The GTR reigns worldwide and if reputation can be used to predict outcomes, I am willing to bet that the machine which is now the cause of discomfort will, in the not too distant future, be the source of immeasurable pride!

If you owned a R35 GTR would you race it at Vernamfield?
