Jamaica remains a unique and rather interesting place to live. Under normal circumstances when individuals relocate, the moving van/truck appears – in the night – and our prized possessions are packed and then brought to the new address. Correct?
Explain that to the residents of the community I was fortunate to visit last weekend (Sunday). It was rather early, so I had ample time to absorb the crisp, clean oxygen-laden rural air. As I traveled at a pedestrian’s pace along the road which lead to Jamwest, my eyes met an uncanny sight. A family was in the process of relocating, I surmised, but, not in the typical manner. In this section of ‘the rock’, to facilitate a change of address, a flat-bed wrecker is the required mode of transport. Yes, the house was being loaded on the flat-bed. Never a dull moment!
I read with interest some of the comments made relating to Speedwest Weekend. Words are being flung in each direction available on the 16-point compass! Fire has no heat to compare to the magma chamber which boils in the gut of detractors. Crabs in a barrel have a more peaceful existence than the so-called major players/stakeholders in Jamaican motorsports. I will say this – I applaud the effort made by the individuals who saw it fit to wage the war to stage this event and I encourage them to exceed our expectations at the next event in the series.
I could tell you that the paddock was filled with machines being prepared for battle by 8am, but I wont. I could tell you that security, parking attendants, ticket booth, etc., were all up and running early as well, but I wont. I could tell you that I cannot recall seeing so many fans at a Jamwest event, but I wont. And surprise, surprise, circuit racing can only dream about the number of fans who came to see the drag racing!
Too much to say – pause…
Look closely – you should see Honda Motor Co.
In this machine!
Chris Campbell was inspired! He drove the trumpets off the machine!
A little Toyota love.
Is this machine underperforming?
The M.A.D boss was in the building.
A tweak here – a tweak there = a ten seconds pass!
In Asian voice – mi likey!
Can you say slowly – JZ!
Much more will be said and shown……
