Drag Racing: Hi-boost at Jamwest (part 1)

Author : cmunroe

The first official drag racing event for 2010 is scheduled to rev-off at Jamwest Speedway on February 28th .Last year the action on the strip was riveting and the series title – Vengeance -lived up to its hype by delivering closely contested battles, fierce rivalries and noteworthy elapsed times in the various classes.

It is clear to regular participants and those who are now interested that to guarantee victory in the various classes, one cannot bring an underprepared machine. The level of competitiveness is of such a high standard that any oversight, missed electrical connection, lazy reaction time, etc. will be the difference between receiving a victor’s trophy and packing up early for the long trip home, in some cases.

Impressive machines with engines packed with powerful horses, always make their presence known at Jamwest.  Jamwest is home to some super- fast machines and with the influx of drivers from Cayman, another dimension has been added, especially as it relates to the Nissan Skyline GTR and the Mitsubishi Evo.

A Honda is a chick magnet, but it is also a tuner’s favourite weapon and there are no more secrets relating to power extraction from a Honda B/K series engine. As such Hondas are visible, fighting for class superiority in 14 seconds through to 9 seconds class. It may be easily the most represented make at the races.

I spoke to Windsor Young (the promoter of the event) and he confirmed that Jamwest is definitely on for the 28th and based on the activity seen on the internet re the upcoming event, the wounds inflicted from last year are still wide open and as such  I expect the action on track to be even more explosive. As they say, times will be dropping like flies (expect low elapsed times in the various classes).
