Part 2
Adrian Randle
My pick for best matchup has to be in the 10 seconds class – Adrian Randle’s, Lueboyz prepared Evo VIII vs the Massive Auto sponsored Evo VIII. This matchup was more than a race, for reasons which will not be discussed here. Craig Lue delivered final instructions to his driver and stood a few feet from the car as it staged. As the green peeped out, both cars left the line with aggression only seen in the early Mike Tyson era! Adrian, however, was always a bumper ahead and on the ¼ mile that’s all you need. When the lights flashed, confirming that Adrian was the winner, an elated Craig jumped, punched the air and gave the number 1 sign.
Spi
Noel ‘Spi’ Rhone kept a firm grip on his 11 seconds class title and would not relinquish it for the world. Eradicating the competition, ‘Spi’ and ‘Brownspeed’ weaved their way to a collision in the final. ‘Brownspeed’, possibly still intimidated by ‘Spi’s’ race-craft, lost his nerve and was caught napping at the light, against a man who is among the best with reaction time. ‘Spi’ cruised to victory in arguably his easiest win. His grin could be seen from a mile away when he was in the return lane.
Little T
Oniel ‘Little T’ Henry is known in drag racing circles as a builder of fast Hondas and even in his absence (his race car wasn’t on the track), the cars that he built were doing damage in various classes (16, 14, 13 and 12 seconds classes). The car which I was most impressed with from his stable was the red EG which was competing in the 12 seconds class. Built Hondas are now known for their anti-lag popping, musical delivery as they stage. This is largely as a result of Ecu magic. The red EG came equipped with the orchestra, adequate firepower and a competent driver. In a boost induced fury it terminated the bold but foolish and sped away with the 12 seconds trophy.
Big Up, ‘Little T’! Mention must be made also of Jermaine ‘Biggie B’ Johnson who is slowly making a name for himself as he handles tuning duties on several of Little T’s projects. I can see them fuming now, because I ignored the silver EG’s exploits. But, do not despair, any car good enough to beat ‘Haggi’, which it did at ‘Sunday service’, deserves special attention, which it will get in due course.
This is where my update ends and if I were you, in the missing from the event group, I would begin to sort my affairs out because I wouldn’t miss the next event in the series!
Nb. Thanks to Windsor Young and Tina for everything.
