Circuit Racing: Dover’s finest invade Jamwest!

Author : cmunroe

Speed has been held captive for two months! But thankfully, as was the case for our African ancestors, freedom has arrived. On Sunday, August 2nd, the shackles will be dismantled, speed will be released and allowed to romp at will, at Jamwest Speedway in Little London, Westmoreland.

Circuit racers visited Jamaica’s fastest track in February for a round of the CMRC and if you were not present at that event, I will add jerk seasoning to the wound – you missed a scintillating event! But, you are lucky! You have another shot at witnessing Dover-bred machines chasing 150 plus mph as they ‘crab in a barrel’ towards Jamwest’s taunting Turn 1.

Victory in motorsports requires commitment. It demands, among other things, courage when confronted with track-created scenarios. And at Jamwest Speedway, drivers who aim for P1 are left with no other option but to assemble all the ingredients the recipe for a successful race package dictates, insert them in a Magic Bullet and hope that the refreshing smoothie which will be produced, delivers victory!

The track is challenging. It is Monza-fast. But, it rewards the bold and the prepared. In February, Jordan Powell conducted a driving clinic. His total disregard for the brake pedal and his unsympathetic stance in response to complaints lodged by his machine’s suspension, created pleasurable viewing as he straightened Jamwest’s rather rapid back chicane. His fan base grew immensely at that event. He will be at Jamwest on Sunday.

Doug Gore

Douglas ‘Hollywood’ Gore must be as happy as a lottery winner! ‘Hollywood’, thus far, has experienced zero gs (g-force) of competitive circuit racing in 2015. His machine (ex-DTM Audi TT-R) experienced a bout of spontaneous torque during testing in February. Its subsequent confrontation with the immovable wall at Jamwest resulted in the machine being disfigured. Dr. Terry Dubrow (E! -Botched) could not assist!

Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore

‘Hollywood’ sought and found help and his machine is now ready to trade paint and grab a few scalps. ‘Hollywood’ has competed at Jamwest previously. In the eyes of his west-based fan club he is King. He is eager to return to the track. He will return on Sunday. But, Dover’s King, David Summerbell Jr, will, for the first time, be present at Jamwest. Who will prevail? Who will be crowned King of Jamwest?

TA-1 getting ready to attack!
