The fans came in droves and the parking lot reflected a promoters dream, it was packed!
The fans came to see a show and the cast of characters delivered performances which surpassed the standards of the Oscars. I arrived close to midday and as a friend said, “You miss whole heap!” A quick update revealed that several thrilling races had gone including a demolition derby of sorts, which saw several beasts trading a bit more than paint.

A synopsis of the what I saw would read like this :
Doug Gore’s Evo X packing AMS punch gave David Summerbell’s AMS built TA1 a run for its money, even overtaking him on several occasions.
Honda heads had a lot to cheer about. They have found a new hero in Kyle Gregg who drove like a man possessed by demons of speed and haunted by the sounds of victory. His attitude was evident as he blitzed the chicane close to the main entrance. The blue EG Civic prepared by NG Racing but powered by a MAD built motor hopped and bounced all about as the machine reacted to striking the rumble strips.
Peter Jaggon impressed in qualifying by setting a record time for front wheel drive, naturally aspirated cars, but his beast was restrained during the races by overheating issues and as such his pace was reduced to conserve mode.
Marck Carey’s debut was hijacked by an off course excursion during qualifying and as such his effort on race-day was severely hampered, but kudos to his team for a yeoman’s effort to make the car race worthy after the mishap.
Alan Chen’s fan club grows with each race meet and his dominance in class on Easter Monday will guarantee another massive fan haul. He oozes driving ability and with his well prepared MAD (Murray’s Auto Development-Mandeville) machine, he is in the process of mastering race craft as well. He sped to victory in two races and showed his fans a thing or two with a few sublime drifts.
Not to be outdone, the motorcyclists had their moment under the sun. Aided by the new, slow bikes starting 30 seconds ahead format, intrigue was a feature of each race. Crowd favorite Halequin Rodney entertained every chance he got with wheelies, stoppies and standing on his seat, but when it mattered most he fell under Adrian Blake’s spell and crashed out of the final race, handing victory on a platter to Adrian.
The real Carnival
A few of my friends usually sit in the stands close to Pinky’s Bluff and when I went there I could see why. I was met by a unique atmosphere. Remember the title – Carnival – that was in full swing. The circuit march was being led by seductively clad females, who had far too much alcohol. I saw a group of females taking ‘shots’ from a bottle of Appleton and each time the disco blared a popular tune, their waist lines and other lustful assets were whipped into sensuous motion. The men were in paradise, enjoying the best of both worlds – competitive racing on track and ‘bump and wine’ female entertainment during the few breaks.
A good time was had by all and we anticipate the super-bowl in May when our Caribbean neighbors come for their asses to be handed to them in the first round of the CMRC.
