CIRCUIT RACING: DAVID SUMMERBELL JR – STILL THE UNDISPUTED KING! FINAL

Author : cmunroe

‘Hollywood’ knows the advantage an Evo has ascending the hill. He also confirmed that Ta1 is the fastest in a straight line at Dover Raceway. So he must have been perturbed when he considered his race odds. A flash-back of his Pinky’s Bluff heroics met him as he led the field to the green flag.

He summoned all of Montego Bay’s race-craft, but when the green flag got excited and assaulted the atmosphere, the DTM AUDI TT-R was shaken, stirred and abused by frightened air. Air, air that was reluctantly engaged in a project to clear a path for the raucous Ta1 which stunned and passed the TT-R before time-attack was engaged!

The no holds barred, victory is a must scuffle at corner 1 delivered what was expected, but TA1, ‘Hollywood’ and ‘Speedy’ left the drama behind. The 3 juggernauts departed and went in search of pride and glory.

King

Safety concerns intervened at the end of lap 1 and after a lengthy delay and reconfigured race plans TS1-TS2 Race 1 resumed. The ‘King’ in a single file restart held all the valuable cards. He imposed wisdom upon his subjects, gingerly climbed the hill, reduced the procession to zero kmph then lit the fuse! When the dynamite exploded TA1 was seen fleeing the scene and dismembered components of German and British origin were everywhere!

It was a contest for everyone except the ‘King’. For the ‘King’ it was a statement, a speech delivered by a master tactician and an accomplished orator. The time-attack machine when reminded of the doubt and negative connotations it heard, employed seek and destroy courtesies which were evenly distributed between the DTM Audi and the Radical.

Hollywood

‘Hollywood’ made several attempts at destabilizing the surefooted ‘King’, but to no avail and he was constantly under attack from the new face of Dover – ‘Speedy’ and the Radical. The white flag smiled with Ta1, it meant despair for the TT-R and stimulated action from the Radical.

The ‘King’ maintained his clobbering stance. The reliable TT-R gave chase and the Radical, extracting too much, too soon, succumbed to youthful exuberance – spun exiting corner 1. TA 1 – P1. TT-R – P2.

The record will show that each of the three protagonists won one race, but we will agree that TA1 was bitten by bad luck (racing incident). I am willing to conclude that at the Carnival of Speed, a healthy, more potent TA1 clocked in for duty and the first race confirmed how deadly the beast is when unleashed.

Aboard a machine that the ‘King’ complained could not turn, he delivered swift justice, defeated his opponents, reorganized his kingdom and again, led using actions. And without the use of a town crier, the message visited every village, every hamlet, every town – David Summerbell Jr is still the undisputed King!
