DRAG CHALLENGE #2 – JAMAICA’S DRAG RACING HEART BEATS HERE! PART 2

Author : cmunroe

Dean Shaw is a rather vocal fellow. He will forever maintain a love-hate relationship with drag racing fans. Despite your views of Dean, what is undeniable and buried below multiple layers of truth is the fact that Dean is a staunch competitor who has a unique ensemble of motorsports delights.

His toys are not typical, on the contrary, they are potent creative pieces which aim ambitiously for supremacy in the categories they compete at Dover (the NASCAR-type truck) and at Vernamfield.

SUPLIGEN

Immediately below a massive Supligen Boosts You Up banner, the peace-white Camaro rolled to a stop and waited to be called to war! Signal received – fuel, air and electricity reveled in  a cataclysmic orgasm which gave birth to combustion! Vengeance was on the Camaro’s mind.

Dean chose no hired-help this trip. He was tasked with the unenviable responsibility of coordinating the collective effort of the machines stable of thoroughbreds. The machine maintained its difficult-to- idle- but purposeful snarl. It rumbled forward.

The bear was up and running, officially on the awake side of hibernation. Was it ready to claim the 8 seconds salmon?

DEAN SHAW

When I saw Dean Shaw’s opponent positioning his machine for war-duty, I realised the obvious. I asked nonetheless. The benefits of Test and Tune came to the fore. Dean was at Test and Tune for DC#2, but he paraded the NASCAR truck.

Whatever the circumstances were, the Camaro was far from dialed in. The attack routine was laden with discrepancies and blank spaces to be filled!

So, despite the thrilling, furious and rebellious notes the supercharged V8 distributed, its speed revealed lethargy with pockets of anemia. Deans machine was battling for 9 seconds class honors! A jaw dropping fact if you know the substance of the machine!

Dean’s machine was preparing to wrestle Xavia Murray’s n/a, schizophrenic offspring! It was rather humorous to see the Camaro –  with its massive chimneys rupturing its bonnet, with nostrils that would embarrass a dinosaur, nostrils capable of extracting, in record time,  all the available oxygen at Vernamfield – positioned next to Xavia’s pet ! A google search for – unfair match up –  would possibly reveal multiple images of both machines at the line at DC#2.

It was a race though. And both drivers visited their tool box and selected the requisite tools. M.A.D.-boss left the line inspired by an army of natural forces and claimed the expected 9 seconds pass. But to no one’s surprise, the EG was not enough machine for the Camaro.

Dean exploded from the line, kept the beast within the lane, deviated a bit about mid-track, but without much drama and claimed victory. As I said no surprise there.

BADBREED RACECRAFT

The BadBreed Racecraft crew assembled at ground zero to observe Dean’s machine and I asked about the Red Donkey. The Red Donkey, I was told by team CEO – Mr Coke –  was withdrawn from competitive duties to address concerns which arose during the earlier round.

Dean Shaw did not qualify for the lofty 8 seconds class and the BadBreed crew chose to forfeit. At DC#2 Dean was allowed to breathe easy. But, for how long?

We take nothing from Dean Shaw though. His machine was present and it competed. Its presence was welcomed, noteworthy and it added significant value to the excitement quotient of DC#2.

The fans love the machine! It is my view that if more time is spent preparing and less time debating, chances are we will actually see the Red Donkey subjected to a real test and not a knock-off test!

We wait with unrestricted glee!

  1. Dean Shaw says:

Well written, looking forward to future competition.

  2. cmunroe says:

Hailings Dean and welcome to these pages! It must be stated publicly that we appreciate what you have contributed to Jamaican motorsport thus far and we hope that the competitive fire you maintain will not be extinguished any time soon.

So, now that we have the political correctness out of the way, assuming that the Red Donkey’s ‘illness’, based on what transpired at DC#2, is brief and the machine will be ready to step on the battlefield at the next event – What should fans expect from Dean Shaw and the Camaro at DC #3? What changes are necessary in order to extract Red Donkey-slaying performance from the Camaro?
