I heard it stated. I read it. I did not believe it until the machines appeared. Who said steroids were bad?
Children – performance-enhancing steroids, for human beings, are bad! Say no! But, if you are trapped in petrol-head-land, where speed and scintillating performance are commandments, copious quantities of horsepower-producing steroids, for victory-seeking machines, are recommended.
And if what I have observed thus far is accurate, it is evident that the WRC’s governing body adopted the view that muscle-bound machines provide a recipe for success! The machines which will hit the stages in 2017, when seen, will inspire deja vu moments – thrilling moments, which were thoroughly missed.
AUDI
Audi, Peugeot and other manufacturers, in the Group B era, bred monsters that would humiliate unsuspecting stages with the insane speed which was extracted from the thoroughly engineered motors. Those machines, when heard snorting and booming in the distance could be mistaken for percussion instruments!
The 2017 machines will be wider, more powerful, lighter and ultimately, much, much faster. And they will be brandishing more dive planes and canards than the current DTM machines.
If that was not enough, a time-attack-type, extended, protruding rear diffuser will raise the visual appeal tenfold – forget the performance benefits! Wild stuff! The fans will love it!
Group B is back! Citizens of Monte Carlo and elsewhere – brace yourself!
