This, I could not keep to myself! When I saw the story I was beside myself with a river’s roar of excitement. Time attack is not immensely popular on this side of the pond, but we recognize it for what it represents, signifies and glorifies.
Time attack’s sole purpose is to record the fastest possible time around a circuit using what still has the appearance and presence of a road-going platform. Yes, we are fully aware that the only stock aspect of the machine which exists in reality is the manufacturer emblems – if they can be located!
So, we are not blinded by the transformation that rips around the circuit, but we are willing to be impressed. Evidence that we regard time attack with heightened respect was shown when David Summerbell Jr went in pursuit of his ‘return to glory’ chariot! He chose with the wisdom of the Chinese Fox (martial arts) and the exploits of TA 1 will provide substance for local motorsports history sessions for years to come.
But, that was not what instigated the appearance of organized letters (words) on these pages. HKS needs no introduction and with the passing of one of the founding fathers of the outfit recently, the brand was somewhat under the weather.
But the sun is shining with hopeful brilliance at HKS apparently is determined to remind people about who they are and the caliber of weapons they are committed to unleash on ready-to-tap-out tracks! HKS is about to unmask ‘the thing’ which may change the d..n game – again!
It is branded the HKS GT800. Should Tsukuba run and take cover? What do you think about this machine?
