A MANUAL GEARBOX WILL ALWAYS BEAT A PDK/AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION!

December is a child’s favourite month. It is the month which guarantees that in addition to not being at school and having a wonderful time, gifts will be received! So, if you have children, stifle your repetitive complaints, stop moaning about your daily burdens and ensure that your children enjoy memorable moments. They will love you for it. While you are at it answer this question – What do you want for Christmas?

I am fully aware of the inferno I am wading in, but, guess what – I am not in the mood to care. Did you know that a lot of what exists in the race- car of the day, filters into what is offered to John Public on the showroom floor?

NASCAR

I am worried. Manual gearboxes are slowly becoming obsolete. Think of all the major motorsports disciplines that you follow religiously – Can you recall a manual gearbox being used? God bless NASCAR – most things are analog, old school, bare-knuckle bar-fights! I am aware that they have adopted fuel injection and digital instruments, but, the good old stick and ball are alive and well!

I will not discard precious time by arguing the merits or lack thereof, of manual and PDK. The facts, if you are a motorsport aficionado are well-documented and known by all. But, before you race along the suggested path and rush to a verdict, consider this.

What is of more importance? The time you achieve while wrestling your machine around the track or the feeling you are drowned in while you wrestle that machine around the track?

Now that you have established that. Ponder this. Which of the two – manual or PDK/automatic do you think would deliver a more engaging and fulfilling experience as you bludgeon your way to that magical lap time?

But, if you are a purist and the perfect lap time is a secondary pursuit when compared to the thrill of the quest, even Porsche was forced to recant!

NOTHING COMPARES TO A MANUAL GEARBOX!

If you are in search of euphoric driving encounters, the kind that forces a heart-reset, the kind that ignites  a New Year’s eve fireworks display when you recall your best laps – locked in a grip vs drift debacle, it is my H-pattern-compelled view that a manual gearbox will always beat PDK!

I am willing to listen to your view…lol.
