Car Show
So much has happened and even much more is happening. It is a race to keep up to speed with the events. I am currently chilling in South Florida which tends to give a different perspective on the motorsports scene. Left the house on Saturday, planning to devour a slice or two of Sbarro’s delectable pizza and stumbled upon a car show in the parking lot of the Sun Life Stadium (home of the Miami Dolphins).
The car show was a blend of all things car related, live performances and hot, super- hot chicks. The chicks were steaming hot! Did I say it was a car show? For a moment I thought it was a chick fest!
What took me by surprise, was the fact that the show was dominated by high performance Japanese cars. Remember, I am in the land of the muscle car and one would think that Mustangs, Camaros and the like, would kick the sh… out of the four cylinder tribe from Japan. But fact is stranger than fiction and what I saw would please the enthusiast who has a soft spot for all things Japanese.
Japanese muscle, performance and sport cars were present in unexpected numbers. I wasn’t aware that there were so many Nissan Skyline GTR’s in South Florida. Note, not the current GTR. I am talking about R32’s and R33’s! Hondas, Evos, 240SXs and every known icon from the Japanese production line were represented, expressing their worth in their enhanced state, their engines on steroids and their exterior modeling the handiwork of a dedicated artist.
It was fun and my happy as a lark nephew, got the opportunity to sit in and imagine what driving a pristine S200 would be like. He is still living in the moment when his posterior introduced itself to the rare Mugen seats, the owner lovingly placed in his chariot.
I couldn’t resist the temptation, I had to be my ‘ nuff ‘ self and establish a link with the owners of some of the more powerful beasts on show. Hopefully I will have some pictures of a mighty fine Toyota Supra and a test drive to tell you about in a while. Yes – mi nuff, but a so life go!
Dover
Motor racing at Dover is on the cards today and once there is racing at Dover, excitement is only a green flag away. Regrettably, I am not home, so I will not be cruising to the hills of St Ann, to soak in some speed in the sun, as the voracious pack of drivers, race to the checkered flag.
All the competitors who put money to machine, to make a race car a reality, should be lauded and as such the least we can do is make our presence known through gregarious support, as they ply their craft on the notorious 1.6 miles circuit. The length of my envy of the drivers, rivals that of the Nile, but hopefully I will join them soon. Let us enjoy the freedom our forefathers could only dream about and if you are fortunate enough to be at the track, express in a boisterous tone, your approval of the efforts of your favorite driver as he rockets around the track.
