MotoGP: The Jorge Lorenzo show

The 2010 MotoGP season promised a lot and riders renewed their commitment to kick the 2009 MotoGP World Champion, Valentino ‘Doctor’ Rossi  out of the hospital. The ‘Doctor’ displayed the resilience of a true champion and made it clear on track that he was adequately prepared to defend his title.

Trouble has no satellite imagery, no one saw the ominous clouds assembling. At Round 4, Rossi went for an unplanned ride. A horrific high side left him broken at the leg, which fractured his 2010 title chase. Rossi left the circuit for a few rounds but, during that time, Jorge Lorenzo met each Grand Prix with a fire that would make a dragon purple with envy!

Round 10

At Round 10 last Sunday in the Czech Republic, the Jorge Lorenzo show continued. He made a mockery of the proceedings. Lorenzo started 3rd on the grid, behind Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda) and the ever improving Ben Spies (Monster Yamaha Tech 3). Lorenzo got a fairly good start, weaved his way pass the others and at the end of lap 1 it was Lorenzo, Spies, Pedrosa and Stoner. Pedrosa realizing he was losing ground, zeroed in on Lorenzo and rode by Spies.

Dovizioso (Repsol Honda) felt the heat in the kitchen was unbearable. He crashed out from 3rd. When Stoner passed Spies with 14 laps to go, the top spots were settled and everyone battled for what was left.

At Round 10, Rossi made no significant impression and Pedrosa, Stoner and company were flogged like rebellious slaves by a ruthless Lorenzo . Jorge Lorenzo was in a different zone – the Fiat Yamaha zone! He basically rode undisturbed, despite what Pedrosa would consider to be his best efforts.

With the legend Agostini in attendance, Lorenzo rode to his 7th win of the season. The points gap to second place Pedrosa is now at 77. So the question will be posed again – Can anyone stop Lorenzo?
