A surprise was predicted. A surprise was expected. A surprise was delivered. WRC 2020 could not have had a better start. At Rally Monte Carlo, Tanak stumbled, Neuville soared while Ogier dipped into the familiarization bag.
Sweden promised a fresh opportunity for Tanak. He grabbed it, but not before Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Elfyn Evans blazed a fiery trail of scintillating speed and exaggerated commitment.
Evans – The Welsh Dragon – was in sublime form. He led the rally from Day 1 and possibly only looked back to ascertain where his young but tenacious team-mate, Rovanpera was.
Evans remained impressive. He took a well deserved victory and claimed a slice of history in the process.
Is Evans now a genuine contender?
But wait, there is more.
